I chose to look into Africa's educational improvements. Africa is a continent that seems to be lacking education improvements, as a third world region. Being from there, I'm naturally drawn to the continent and I'm continuously looking for ways to see how it has been improving. Education is one of the most important necessities that most countries have been blessed with, however, Africa as a whole seems to be lacking these improvements. This is mainly due to the fact that there is a lack of funds coming into the region, as well as
high poverty rates that prevent the average family from being able to provide their children with the right tools to enhance their children education. Nevertheless, there is a high interest among the children of Africa in education. They mostly do not take their education for granted, and most of them are actually lucky to be in schools. Since most of these schools are public, it is very expensive to enroll children coming from the average family home in third world countries, in an international or a private school. Most private schools have a better educational system then the public schools. While reading the one laptop per child proposal, I found that this is an crucial and substantial improvement in the education system. This program provides countries with 100 dollar laptops that are designed as an educational tool to bring learning and communication to children in developing countries. This is at an extremely affordable rate for governments, therefore they are able to purchase them and directly distribute them to schools. This is now happening in Nigeria and Libya, among other developing countries. I truely hope this spreads to a wider scale of African nations.
